When is the soonest I can make a booking?
A booking request can't be made within 24 hours. You should also leave extra time to give the tutor a reasonable opportunity to respond to your request.
What happens if a tutor doesn't accept my request?
If the tutor does not have availability, (s)he can respond with an alternative date/ time/ duration. The student either accepts the date/ time/ duration, or responds with another date/ time/ duration. This continues until one of the following has occurred:
- the date/ time/ duration has been accepted
- a student/ tutor has cancelled the process
- the date/ time has elapsed
- 24 hours have elapsed without a response from either party.
Am I notified of updates?
Yes, anytime there is an update to a request or booking, you will receive an automated email notification.
When does a student make payment?
Payment must be made within 24 hours of booking request being accepted, but also with more than 24 hours until the scheduled booking, or the booking will be closed (expire).
What happens when I've made payment and my booking is confirmed?
Once payment is successful and booking confirmed, the messaging will then be open so you and the tutor can contact each other to clarify any details relating to your booking.
Where does/should the grind take place?
We strongly recommend that all grinds take place in the student's home or in a public location with a parent or guardian present.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Bookings cannot be cancelled within 24 hours of a confirmed (scheduled) grind.
If a booking is cancelled by either a student or tutor before payment is completed, then each user will be notified by email.
What happens if a tutor cancels or doesn't appear for a confirmed (scheduled) grind?
If payment has been made by a student and the tutor cancels or does not appear, 121 Grinds will refund the student in full. Please contact us on support@121grinds.ie should this occur and we will issue your refund as a priority.
Am I charged as a Student?
Students are charged a 2.50 Booking Fee in addition to the tutor rate. In the event that a student cancels a booking with more than 24 hours until scheduled grind, 121 Grinds will refund the student in full (including Booking Fee).
Am I charged as a Tutor?
Tutors set their own rates and 121 Grinds charge a 20% Booking Fee on all successfully completed grinds.
When do tutors get paid?
Tutors are paid on a weekly basis. Payments are processed every Saturday for successfully completed grinds that take place between Friday 00:00:00 and Thursday 23:59:59. Payment will be transferred to tutors (less Booking Fee(s)) within 5 business days depending on your bank.
